Sexually Transmitted Diseases
A Venereologist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted diseases. In Continental Europe, Dermatology and Venereology is a combined speciality and having trained in Germany, Dr Stefanie is qualified in both areas. We therefore offer sexual health screenings for men and women and can treat many conditions here in clinic. For others we might have to refer you for further treatment.
Sexual health screening
We offer a comprehensive sexual health screening for both men and women. This usually involves a blood test and a simple swab. This is quick and uncomplicated and causes little discomfort. For male patients worried about swabs, in many cases we can send a urine sample for testing instead. Also, as well as the conventional HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) test which detects antibodies from four weeks post-contact, we can offer early detection HIV testing by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) at
10 days post-contact.
We can treat a variety of conditions, including genital warts, directly in clinic. For other problems we might arrange referral to a colleague.
