Medical Cosmetician
We recommend that people with troubled skin should avoid seeing high street beauty therapists, as they are not usually trained sufficiently to deal with real skin problems. Our Medical Cosmetician has completed a rigorous training as a Cosmetician in New Zealand and has worked closely alongside our Dermatologist to supplement her training. She has thus accumulated a wealth of experience in performing special Facials for troubled skin.
Our signature therapies are Rosacea & Acne Facials with deep pore cleansing and painless comedone extractions. These are invaluable additions to any treatment for these conditions, whether prescribed by a doctor or with over-the-counter products. Frequently we also include the innovative HydraFacial machine in our Facials.
Our Medical Cosmetician also offers removal of milia ('milk spots'), treatment of facial pigmentation problems, perioral dermatitis (a rash around the mouth area) and keratosis pilaris (rough, goose bump-like skin on the upper arms).
Quite apart from her expertise performing treatments in problem skin, our therapist also offers a Dermatologist developed, deluxe rejuvenating Facial - the Rolls Royce of anti-ageing Facials. Acne & Breakout Facial
This specialist clinical Facial helps clear breakouts, while keeping your skin young and beautiful looking. Suitable for adults and teenagers.
Help diminish your acne and prevent scaring, so you can face the future with clear, beautiful skin. This deep pore cleansing, clarifying and anti-inflammatory treatment is the perfect Facial to combat spots and breakouts. It reduces four important contributing factors: i) excess sebum/oil production, ii) over production of keratin (dead skin material) with clogged pores, iii) inflammation and iv) bacterial growth. The treatment begins with a deep pore cleansing and gentle exfoliation of the skin to remove dead cell debris, followed by thorough comedone ('blackheads & whiteheads') extractions. A clarifying and soothing mask is then applied. In order to reduce acne bacteria, decrease skin oiliness and tighten pores, your skin is 'bathed' in blue LED light, followed by application of a light moisturizer. In non-inflammatory acne, a lymphatic drainage massage completes the session.
To intensify treatment of congested skin and enlarged pores in oily, spot-prone skin, we can also add a 'HydraFacial' treatment in your Acne Facial, leaving a beautifully clear and fine complexion.
Once your skin is cleared, we can then go on and treat potential scaring, for example with a highly effective course of medical needling (see 'Cosmetic Dermatology' - 'Improving Skin Surface & Texture'). However, acne scaring should only be tackled, when all active acne has settled.

Rosacea Facial ('couperose')
Say no to spots and red bumps beyond teenage-hood! This clarifying and calming Facial helps to alleviate rosacea and its associated symptoms including papules, pustules and facial redness.
At the beginning of the treatment, your skin is thoroughly cleansed and impurities gently extracted. A specialised Oxygen Mask or a Pure Collagen Mask is then applied, depending on your skin's condition that day. The Oxygen mask stimulates and strengthens small blood vessel walls, increases oxygenation in your skin and 'flushes the pipes'. Over time this helps reduce redness, flushing and inflammation. The collagen biomatrix mask calms inflammation, soothes irritation and hydrates the skin. The mask is followed by a specialist rosacea lymphatic drainage massage to help reduce lymph fluid congestion, puffiness and to flush away toxins. Finally red and blue LED light is used to calm inflammation and reduce unwanted bacteria. Both men and women will benefit.

Pigment Facial
Our Pigment Facial is an advanced clinical Facial to soften irregular pigmentation, brighten your complexion and give your skin the ultimate glow.
Our medical anti-pigmentation Facial helps reverse the ravages of chronic sun exposure such as mottled pigmentation and other forms of uneven skin tone such as melasma ('mask of pregnancy'). After a thorough cleansing this Facial starts with a unique Pigment Balancing Masque, which combines effective skin brightening, anti-inflammatory and peeling agents. High potency Vitamin C and Ectoin reduce excess pigment production in the skin, while peeling glycolic acid gently resurfaces the skin to get rid of existing pigment. A second more soothing Vitamin C mask continues to help fight free radical damage in the skin. Your face is then bathed in red LED light, which helps improve skin texture, color, and tone while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We complete the ritual with application of a silky sun protection moisturizer and lymphatic drainage massage.
This Facial is recommended to be performed six times in 10-day intervals and will be combined with an effective home care regime (home care products to be purchased additionally). This combination approach will leave your skin fresher and with a visibly more even skin tone, while gently reducing pore size and the appearance of fine lines and overall sun damage.
It is extremely important to combine any treatment for pigmentation with a broad-spectrum sun protection product of SPF 50-90, which we will recommend on an individual basis. Remember - a single day of excess sun can undo months of treatment!
If you also suffer with whiteheads or blackheads that need extracting, our Medical Cosmetician will include this in your session at no extra cost.

'Skin Health for Life' Facial

The treatment combines a special deep cleansing, exfoliation, painless extractions, hydration and intense antioxidant protection simultaneously using the unique 'HydraFacial' machine. Your skin is then 'bathed' in red LED light, which stimulates fibroblast cells within the dermis to produce natural collagen and elastin. Red light also works to reduce micro-inflammation. This facial will leave your skin looking radiant and visibly firmer for a beautifully healthy and fresh appearance. For best effects, this Facial should be done every 4-6 weeks.

Removal of milia ('milk spots')
Milia are harmless, very common lesions affecting all ages. They appear as small, deep seeded, white, hard bumps on the face, often on the upper cheeks and around the eyes. Milia are tiny, superficial cysts filled with keratin (skin protein) material, not pus as it might appear. They can appear singly or in large numbers and although they are benign and have no other symptoms, patients often request their removal for cosmetic reasons.
Our Medical Cosmetician can very easily and painlessly remove facial milia in a single treatment.
